Kingsbridge Estate has bought Cumberland House in Southampton city centre for circa £3.5m from Helical Bar.

The 30,755 sq ft property at Cumberland Place close to Southampton’s central rail station formed part of a larger portfolio sold by Standard Life to Helical Bar.

Lucite International, part of Misubishi Corporation and local solicitors Coffin Mew are tenants at the building which has a rent roll of just over £200,000 pa. The remaining 24,000 sq ft of offices available have been refurbished and are being marketed by Realest and JLL.

Stuart Cook of Realest said: “We’re delighted to have helped our client increase their presence in Southampton with the purchase of this prime office building and we’re already in discussions with a couple of potential occupiers of the vacant floors.”

Mark Hooper of Kingsbridge Estates said: “The team at Realest worked hard to secure us the opportunity of the sub-sale and really pulled out all the stops to help us complete within 10 days.”

Realest advised Kingsbridge Estates, while Helical Bar was represented by Whitaker Horton. BNP Paribas Real Estate advised Standard Life.
